Milwaukee, the city that beer built, in the 60’s it was home to three of the five largest breweries in the country, and considered the American Munich. Back then Detroit built cars and Milwaukee brewed beers. Today Milwaukee is still home to Miller, but Pabst and Schlitz have long since left ghost towns of old stable houses, grain buildings, and brewery workshops. Over the past few years a brewery culture has started to grow once again in Milwaukee, but this time it is a micro-brewery revolution. Today Milwaukee is home to over 40 breweries with new ones opening all the time, something that has a lot of the locals and visiting drinkers thrilled. The new microbreweries are built around large communal tables, board games instead of TV’s, and large garage doors to invite the outdoors in or allows you out depending on how you look at it while enjoying a malted beverage.
Here is my list of the Microbreweries that are doing a great job at crafting new Milwaukee beer and have earned the right to be on the list of ones you need to visit this summer.
